Personality

The first thing anyone notices about Rhys is how friendly he is. He loves meeting new people and getting to know them and their stories. It's rare to find someone who doesn't fall for his kindness and charming personality. As such he has a lot of acquaintances but few actual close friends because getting Rhys to lower his own walls and open up is a feat. He's the king of deflection and most don't even notice because he is too busy asking them about themselves. He is quick to laugh and crack jokes but will be there for his friends the second they need him.
Don't take his easy going friendly nature and his tendency to be an idiot at face value. Rhys is extremely intelligent, with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He studied in Old Sharlayan and was given the title of Archon for his studies of The Void before he left to go travel the world.

Rhys grew up the youngest of five kids. His mother loved them all and raised them close so when his older brother turned out to be a brother it was a blow to the family. Instead of sending him out into the wood his mother took them all and left. They somehow ended up in Thavnair.
Rhys loved the outside world and had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. His mother eventually remarried a trader and he was always bringing Rhys back books from all over the world. His quest for knowledge eventually lead him to Sharlayan and to the studium where he began his work studying the Void and voidsent. Eventually earning the title of archon. It was through his studies that he accidentally summoned a voidsent that tethered to him when he stumbled upon a soul crystal.
Like a few of his classmates and peers he is disillusioned by Sharlayan’s stance on neutrality and it is around the same time that Louisoix forms the circle of knowing that Rhys ventures out from Sharlayan to try to do more for the world. It’s not until after the calamity that he joins the scions.
